So the talented Mr. Perry doesn’t keep his fans waiting for long as he is known to push out at least two movies a year, a host of television shows and his beloved stage plays which have brought him to his current reverence. So, what is it about this particular project that makes me want to give Tyler Perry an achievement award? Possibly the fact that the story line for Good Deeds is absolutely compelling. Tyler has a way of introducing each of his characters in relatively dramatic scenes while allowing you to decide if you will root for the character throughout the movie or despise them the entire time. Side Note: At no point could I relate Tyler’s character (Wesley Deeds) to the overly eccentric Madea in some of his other films.
Although each character in the movie delivered outstanding performances including Brian White, Gabrielle Union, Thandie Newton, Jamie Kennedy, Rebecca Romijn and Mr. Tyler himself, I almost jumped for joy when the incomparable Phylicia Rashad graced the screen. She is undoubtedly one of my favorite actresses of all time and to see her in such an awesome role made me think back to her days as the stern, yet loving Claire Huxtable on The Cosby Show.
My favorite scene from the movie is when Lindsey (Thandie Newton) meets Wesley’s (Tyler Perry) mother played by Ms. Rashad during a celebration at the family’s corporate offices. Wesley and his family are well-to-do business owners and Lindsey just so happens to work for them as a janitor. Well, as you might imagine, Wesley is too good for Lindsey – according to his overbearing mother, and tension starts to fly quickly. What doesn’t help the situation much is Wesley’s jealous and irresponsible brother played by Brian White. The scene gets real ugly and you become unsure if you want to cry or cheer by the time things settle down. Because Tyler was able to jerk my emotions like a five speed car on a steep hill, I must say that this is one movie that I would have to give 4 HIGH Fives out of 5. I would have given it 5 HIGH Fives but I am still not sure if I liked the ending as much as I did the rest of the film. Either way, I highly recommend you see this one before it leaves theaters!

Aspire Online Media was invited by Liquid Soul Media and Konsole Kingz to the pre-screening of Universal Picture’s Safe House on Wednesday February 8th at Regal Theater 24 in Atlanta. As you all may know, the movie, directed by Daniel Espinosa, stars Denzel Washington as Tobin Frost and Ryan Reynolds as Matt Weston. First of all, let me just say that Denzel is one of my favorite actors and I have been a fan of Mr. Reynolds ever since he co-starred with Sandra Bullock in The Proposal. Both the actor’s characters in this action thriller are beyond believable to the point where I actually felt each of their inner turmoil while living the treacherous lives of CIA agents in present day South Africa.
During several scenes I literally thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest. From the plodding opening scene to the edge-of-your-seat climax, it is quite the adrenaline rush given the multiple shoot outs and high-speed chases for the better part of the film. My favorite scene is where Denzel’s character has a “lesson in life” moment with Ryan Reynolds character in one of the safe houses. It provides an emotional backdrop that foreshadows what Ryan Reynolds character will soon experience throughout the various twists and turns in the movie. There were also several quotes by Denzel’s character that I absolutely loved – one of them being from this particular scene.
Overall, I would have to give this movie “5” HIGH FIVES out of five simply because it held my attention the ENTIRE time. I truly respect good acting and appreciate an even better plot. I had extremely HIGH expectations of the film and as you can see from this review, it surely did not disappoint. Go see it!!

It is hard to put Red Tails into words but one does come to mind – MASTERPIECE. The 20th Century Fox film is a George Lucas creation, and tells the story of the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II.
Starring a predominantly African American cast lead by Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr., Oscar nominee Terrance Howard, Nate Parker (The Great Debaters) and R&B superstar Ne-Yo, the movie manages to take you through every emotion imaginable. Carrying you through the journey of an all black unit that struggles for acceptance within their own army, the all black unit learns to overcome adversity through their love of flying the great blue skies and fighting the enemy. The air fighters soon learn that it is this love and undeniable skill in the line of duty that break down the barriers that once held them back, enlightening their Anglo Saxon comrades to see past their exteriors and into their courageous hearts. The priceless essence of this movie lies in the ability to touch on the soldier’s personal struggles, beliefs, ambitions, and expectations while not only trying to prove themselves as fighter pilots but as men. Although such a movie is filled with intense subject matter, it provides refreshing and comical undertones that lighten the mood when it touches on the core of social issues.
In summary, Red Tails served as a melting pot of elements that worked perfectly together to create a satisfying cinematic entrée. Support the memorable film in theatres now. It is destined to be a classic.

Being a fan of the Twilight Saga, I am remorseful for not sharing this news with you sooner. A year has been too long to wait to find out what’s going on with our beloved Edward and Bella. The time has finally arrived. On November 18th 2011, our thirst will be quenched with the release of “Breaking Dawn: Part 1” in theatres nation wide. When watching the trailer you see the beautiful scene of Bella and Edward’s wedding. At that moment it looks as though the two lovebirds are headed to “Happily Ever After”. As the trailer continues, it goes on to show a pregnant Bella fighting for her life while the child inside her grows at an unusual rate. This seems to bring renewed division amongst the Wolf pack and the Cold Ones, as Bella becomes Sam’s (the Head of the Pack) new enemy. Worried about what type of being Bella will be birthing, both sides are up at arms. It already looks like we will be left at the edge of our seats and taken on a rollercoaster ride during this installment. Since there is to be a Part 2, I am sure that we will be left with a sense of suspense and certainly will not be looking forward to waiting another year to see the conclusion. Pre-tickets for the premier of this film are on sale now at select theatres. Since we are a month away from witnesseing this masterpiece, watch the Official Trailer below.

It looks like 50 Cent has grabbed a new starring role in the action thriller, “The Pursuit”. Emmett/Furla Films and Cheetah Vision Films, which Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson runs with producer Randal Emmett, are producing the thriller together, which will be directed by Jessy Terrero. 50 Cent and Emmett have signed the director on for three films.
“The Pursuit”, written by Matt Johnson, follows “a cop and criminal (who) inadvertently team up to track down an escaped bank robber as each has his own personal vendetta against the man. Meanwhile, a determined US Marshall hunts the men to prevent them from killing the convict and instead ensure that he is brought to justice the proper way,” as explained by the producers.
50 Cent will star in the film as the cop. Lionsgate will distribute the picture through its ten-movie output deal. They plan to start shooting this action packed thriller in Louisiana in February 2012.
This is not the director’s, (Terroro) first time collaborating with 50 Cent. He has worked with him on numerous music videos as well as the rapper’s 2010 crime thriller, “Gun”. Terrero’s debut feature was the 2004 film, “Soul Plane”. The duo also have Emmett/Furla’s action thriller Freelancers in the can, which also stars Robert DeNiro and Forest Whitaker. Being that 50 Cent has not released music in a substantial period of time, it’s easy for me to wonder if this is the new avenue that he will be taking going forward. Only time will tell. Stay tuned for more updates on this production and 50 Cent.

Many are questioning the extreme make over that Johnny Depp took on for his role in the upcoming movie “Dark Shadows” with director Tim Burton. Known for his willingness to take the extra mile for a role, we are not surprised that Johnny would take an extreme step to bring his character to life. In “Dark Shadows” Johnny Depp joins the rank of actors to play a vampire. Although this would explain the choice of make up, he still has acquired an interesting comparison to the “King of Pop” by many critics. I am not sure that I would be able to piggy back on that comparison but do agree that his appearance is a bit on the exaggerated side. However, we do have to remember that this is not the first time that we’ve seen Johnny Depp this pale. In the earlier stages of his career, we witnessed a similar skin tone on this award winning actor as the star in “Scissor Hands”. I am curious to see how his ghastly look will come across on the big screen this time.
